Is Elder Scrolls V Bethesda’s Big Secret?

After four long years, waiting, with no news, Elder Scrolls fans are once more lifting their weary heads at the thought of another impending E3, wondering if this will finally be the year when Elder Scrolls V will be announced. However, from recent emerging hints, it seems that it may no longer be a distant dream and the internet rumour mill is swiftly working itself up into a frenzy after Bethesda listed a ‘secret’ under their ‘surprise category’ for this year’s E3.

According to Abstract360.com:

This would not be unsuspected as an issue of Official Xbox Magazine years ago reported that the next installment [of Elder Scrolls] should release sometime around 2011. That said, this years E3 would be a prime time to begin building hype for the game, also, Oblivion had a four year development cycle from the launch of Morrowind in 2002 to the release date in 2006.

It may be a long shot, with precious little to go on (and it may yet be the Elder Scrolls MMO that many dread, given Bethesda’s establishment of a new MMO focussed studio – speculated by C&VG back in 2007) however, any hint of a secret announcement from Bethesda could stir up no other frenzy of rumours like the thought of Elder Scrolls V, however non-existent the evidence. Here’s hoping…
