Fallout New Vegas DLC Confirmed

Fans of the post apocalyptic RPG sandbox Fallout will no doubt be on the verge of pushing that big red “Nuclear Rejoice” button today as Bethesda announce that there will be downloadable content for the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas, which is due for release this week (October 19th in the USA, October 21st in Australia and the 22nd for Europe). Although this was always likely to be on the cards, especially when you consider that Fallout 3 had five separate DLC releases in the shape of Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout, Broken Steel and Mothership Zeta, it’s a welcome relief to hear that the Courier’s journey won’t be ending with the closure of the main New Vegas campaign.

“We’re excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox LIVE,” said Pete Hines, VP of Marketing and PR of Bethesda Softworks. “Fans will once again be able to continue their experience in the Fallout universe with the add-on packs planned for after the launch of the game.”

“Bethesda set a high bar with the quality of the Fallout game add-ons,” said Matt Barlow, General Manager, IEB Product Marketing for Microsoft. “We have no doubt that gamers will be thrilled with seeing a new add-on pack extend their adventures with Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.”

Already being tipped by some as surpassing the level of depth in Fallout 3, this week’s Fallout: New Vegas release looks sure to get tongues wagging… or drooling.
