GoldenEye 007 Targets the Wii

First announced at Nintendo’s E3 conference and confirmed by Activision, it seems that Bond is back in a remake of the beloved N64 title, GoldenEye, titled GoldenEye 007. To be released exclusively for the Wii and featuring Daniel Craig as Bond (replacing Brosnan), the game promises to bring the GoldenEye that everybody loved into the FPS choked, modern gaming arena.

According to Activision:

“GoldenEye 007 features an unprecedented lineup of four-player split-screen MP options that encourage social gaming, including 40 characters in total, 8 classic Bond characters, 5 maps, 3 standard modes and 16 special modifiers that allow gamers to create over 500 different game combinations. GoldenEye 007 also features online multiplayer for up to 8 players designed for seasoned FPS online gamers with unique modes and a robust XP system for unlockables and achievements.”

What also bodes well, however, is the revelation that GoldenEye 007 also supports the Classic Controller Pro for those gamers who want to relax back and play regular FPS style rather than messing with the WiiMote.

With the grittier, darker Bond offered by Daniel Craig and the ability, thanks to the choice of control scheme options, “to play any way they want”, players look to be for a dose of dark nostalgia come this Christmas.
